My name is Jan Gray and about 34 years ago I moved from Santa Monica to Big Bear. At that time I was an orthopedic nurse for a large industrial clinic, and decided that since I was a single parent of two children and my parents were living and working in Big Bear that it was time for a change. And change we did. We came from a home on the beach with lots of sand and sunshine toa mountain community of pine trees and snow and a year-round population of under 5,000.

When my children attended North Shore Elementary School they were put into a combined class of first, second and third graders, with one teacher, a teacher's aide and lots of parent participation. So, needless to say, their early education was pretty much one-on-one.

As the years went by we watched Big Bear grow from a sleepy little retirement community to what it is now. A town that has several stop lights, an airport, a hospital, more than one lane of traffic, and several fast food restaurants.

Over  the years I have been blessed to be very successful with my Real Estate career, especially after I learned how to drive in the snow. I attribute a good majority of my success to my past clients and customers for their continued support and referral business.

Since my children have now grown and moved away from Big Bear, I have gone back to one of my most favorite past times and that is horses. We all had them when the kids were little, but as they got older, their athletic and scholastic goals changed. So now it's just Halli Thor and me. As you can see he is an Icelandic, and we do enjoy the time we spend together riding the mountain trails of Big Bear.
